LABORATORY FOR APPLIED AND INDUSTRIAL MATHEMATICS (Lab AIM)

1. INTRODUCTION

The Laboratory for Applied and Industrial Mathematics (Lab AIM) was established in 2022 as a research unit of  Institute for Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, Van Lang University. Lab AIM focuses on the application of mathematical techniques and models to real-world problems in a variety of fields, including engineering, physics, biology, economics, and social sciences. The laboratory is typically composed of mathematicians and scientists who work together to apply mathematical techniques and tools to address practical problems and develop innovative solutions.

Lab AIM conducts research in a variety of areas, including mathematical modeling, optimization, numerical analysis, data analysis, and simulation. The laboratory also develops and implements software tools to facilitate the application of mathematical techniques to real-world problems.

Overall, Lab AIM plays an important role in bridging the gap between theoretical mathematics and real-world problems, by applying mathematical models, algorithms, and software tools to address practical challenges in various fields.

2. MISSION AND VISION

The mission of Lab AIM is to conduct topical research in the field of applied and industrial mathematics, to advance knowledge and develop new techniques and tools that can be applied to real-world problems. The laboratory aims to collaborate with industry, government, and academic partners to identify key challenges in various fields and develop innovative solutions that have a significant impact on society. The laboratory also aims to train and mentor the next generation of researchers and professionals, by providing a stimulating and collaborative research environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and excellence.

The vision of Lab AIM is to be a leading research group in the field of applied and industrial mathematics, with a strong reputation for developing innovative solutions to practical problems in various fields. The laboratory strives to become a hub for interdisciplinary research that combines mathematical techniques and tools with practical applications in engineering, physics, biology, economics, and social sciences.
